Brazil's Economy Countering Central Bank Claims

Brazil's economy remains resilient to outside shocks and sluggish global growth, with the latest activity figures countering claims made by central bankers of a broader deceleration, says BES Investimento. The central bank's economic-activity index rose 0.46% in July from June and climbed 3.4% from a year earlier. The report
"underpins our view that domestic demand continues to grow at a sound pace." BES is skeptical of central-bank claims that recent international jitters will contaminate Latin America's largest economy, with the latest data challenging the "soothing message" conveyed by the central bank.
