Canada July Vehicle Sales Down 6.2%, Seen Dropping 1% In August


Canada's monthly new motor vehicle sales declined 6.2% to 132,386 units in July as sales of both trucks and cars fell, Statistics Canada said Thursday
.

        Preliminary industry data indicate sales fell 1% in August, the statistical agency said.

        Sales of trucks, a category that also includes vans and buses, fell 5.9%, the third decline in four months.

        Sales of passenger cars fell 6.7%. Sales of cars built in North America declined 10.3% while sales of overseas-made cars dropped 0.2%.

        Overall, Ontario accounted for half of the national decline in vehicle sales.
